Can you have two insurance policies on one car?

In most cases the car must be insured by the policy holder which is one person.

A second driver can be added to the policy but not as a main title holder.
So if someone was learning to drive, they could add their name to their parents insurance policy as a named driver.

This would reduce the cost of the insurance for the named driver and both parties would continue  build up their no claims bonus.

Only one person can be named as the policy holder because the  main driver has to be competent and take financial responsibility for the car.

To get an more accurate result ask the insurance company that you intent to have your insurance policy with.
